Our client, a reputable educational institution in Dartford, Kent, is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Full-time SEND Teaching Assistant (TA) to join their dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate individual who is committed to supporting the learning and development of students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
As a Full-time SEND TA, you will play a crucial role in providing individualised support and care to students with a range of additional needs, ensuring they are able to thrive and reach their full potential. You will work closely with the school's SENCO, class teachers, and other members of the support staff to develop and implement effective strategies that cater to the unique needs of each student in your care.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to
- Providing one-to-one or small group support to students with SEND, both in the classroom and during other learning activities
- Assisting students with their daily routines, personal care, and mobility needs
- Collaborating with class teachers to adapt lesson plans, resources, and learning environments to meet the individual needs of students
- Monitoring and recording the progress of students with SEND, and communicating this information to the SENCO and class teachers
- Delivering specialist interventions and programmes, such as speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, or sensory integration therapy
- Supporting students with behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties, and implementing positive behaviour management strategies
- Attending meetings and training sessions to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in SEND practices and legislation
- Promoting the inclusion and integration of students with SEND within the school community
To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong understanding of SEND, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with a range of professionals and families. You should have experience in supporting students with diverse needs, such as autism, learning difficulties, physical disabilities, or sensory impairments. Additionally, you should be highly organised, patient, and able to maintain a calm and positive demeanour in challenging situations.
Our client offers a competitive daily rate of £95 - £110 for this Full-time SEND TA position, with the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of their students. - Relevant qualifications in education, special education, or a related field
- Extensive experience working as a SEND TA or in a similar support role
- Strong understanding of SEND legislation, policies, and best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other professionals
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting students with SEND
- Willingness to participate in ongoing professional development and training
