Job Purpose
The role involves supporting the employer with light domestic duties and day-to-day errands, helping to maintain a comfortable home environment and support the employer’s independence. The employer also values friendly social interaction while carrying out tasks.
Domestic tasks include
- Vacuuming
- Laundry
- Stripping and changing bed linen
- Making beds
- Washing up
- Loading and unloading the dishwasher
- Putting the bin out for collection
Errands include
- Supermarket shopping
- Collecting prescriptions
- Taking items to the post office
Hours of work
The employer is open to job sharing and applications are welcome from individuals who are available for one or more days per week.
Start time between 09:00 and 09:30 (to be agreed)

Mondays and Thursdays
1 hour - vacuuming.

Tuesdays
2 hours - vacuuming, supermarket shopping, prescription collection if needed, taking items to the post office if needed, stripping bed linen and taking the bin to the kerb. A driving licence and access to a car are required for this shift (mileage will be reimbursed at 45p per mile).

Wednesdays and Fridays
1 hour - laundry.
Rate of pay
£14.00-£14.75 per hour (rate to be confirmed by Hampshire County Council).
Start date
As soon as possible once employment checks have been completed and payroll is in place.
About the Employer
The employer is a 37-year-old woman with a neurological condition that causes muscle fatigue and pain. As a result, she requires assistance with very light physical tasks. She benefits from a calm, quiet environment. At times, she may also need space to focus on tasks independently. She values a respectful, patient approach and someone who supports her independence while also being friendly and easy to talk to.
Type of person the employer is looking for
Non-smoker and non-vaper due to employer’s asthma.
Able to communicate clearly in English including the ability to understand and follow instructions.
Honest/trustworthy.
Reliable and punctual.
Easy going, kind, patient and non-judgemental — someone who has a calming effect and does not create stress or pressure.
Respectful of the employer’s needs, boundaries and sensitivities.
Willing to keep their phone on silent whilst working in the employer’s home.
Able to support the employer’s independence and follow their lead.
Someone who has the right to work in the UK.
Willing to get a DBS check if you do not already have one (the employer will cover the cost of getting one).
