QHSE Manager

About this role

Job OverviewThe individual will carry out QHSE duties covering works undertaken by both the directly employed staff and sub-contractors. The individual will be responsible for ensuring all works undertaken by MITIE meet or exceed the QHSE requirements of MITIE, advice on all matters relating to QHSE, including but limited to CDM requirements, undertake incident investigations and QHSE audits of the business units. On a day to day basis the post holder will report to the QHSE lead. The post holder will predominately cover all locations associated with the NATS Contract.

Main Duties

· Provide QHSE assistance and advice to the NATS. Ensuring core service delivery requirements are met

· Support the on-going development of the Integrated management system.

· Conduct and maintain as required the business (audit, monitoring and review) schedule

· Monitor compliance through regular site visits and audits

· Monitor to ensure preventative and corrective actions are completed in an acceptable time frame

· Ensure that all working practices on site are undertaken safely and conform to Mitie standards and procedures. This includes all sub-contractors employed on site

· Provide support to the business for pre-qual questionnaires

· Ensure that all accidents and near misses are reported, investigated and updated on AVA

· Implement and support promotional QHSE related activities including LiveSafe

· Contribute to the maintenance of the MITIE risk profile as appropriate

· Represent the MITIE QHSE team and attend meetings as required and advise on QHSE matters both internally and externally

· Liaise with Enforcement and Regulatory bodies and report any issues to the QHSE Lead.

· Identify & implement strategies to reduce risk for Mitie companies and our clients.

· Maintain an up to date knowledge of legislation and codes of practice applicable to the company's business.

· Ensure Operational managers and personnel have the appropriate technical competence to work safely by the identification and provision of formal training needs.

· Provide advice and guidance to clients, account directors and assurance groups

· Produce QHSE reports as requested

· Attend Regional and National meetings as required to represent the QHSE agenda.

· Where required in consultation with line manager liaise with relevant enforcing authorities.

· Lead and motivate teams ensuring that QHSE is embedded at all levels inline with the Mitie values.

· Develop an understanding of the Mitie Intranet in order to access relevant documentation.

· Attend performance appraisals and work to agreed personal improvement and development plans.

· Attend relevant training courses as part of personal development needs and meeting changing business needs

What we are looking for

-Formal qualification in Health and Safety, e.g. NEBOSH Construction Certificate or Diploma (preferred) or equivalent (or actively working towards) minimum five years relevant experience

-Significant client care experience

-Significant experience of managing people directly

-Significant experience of implementing culture and change programmes

-Any other reasonable “ad hoc” duties as required by the needs of the business.

-Good understanding of ISO and relevant British Standards applicable to the businesses.

-Good standard of written English.

-Good verbal communication skills.

-Computer literate (Word, XL Spread sheets).

-Able to work unsupervised and on own initiative.

-Environmental Management.

-Full UK driving licence.

-Experience of multi-site, multi-discipline organisations.

-Detailed knowledge of risk assessment and management.

-Work in a commercial, client-facing environment.

-Ability to manage meetings.

-Excellent ability to communicate verbally and in writing.

-Able to work as part of a team.

-Diplomatic and personable.
