About this role

Leading a designated workstream within the Clinical Education and Development Team portfolio, the post holder will proactively lead and oversee the operational design and delivery of the clinical support and in-house education curriculum which supports progression and development within role and for future roles for the range of staff and students, working and studying across the range of clinical services in SCFT.

The post holder will provide day-to-day line management support and supervision to a small number of Clinical Learning Facilitators

The post holder will provide and support access to appropriate development, to maintain a competent workforce, providing clinical leadership to the Clinical Services in supporting transfer of theory to practice. The post holder will be a registered Nurse or AHP, with a teaching qualification or experiential knowledge. As a registered professional the post holder is required to adhere to relevant Professional standards and guidelines of practice, education, and conduct.

As part of the team of Clinical Learning Leads, the post holder will

· Actively contribute to an annual review of training needs and evaluation of education performance, to ensure the curriculum available to learners meets the needs of the evolving patient service requirements and current and future workforce.

  • influence and improve the quality of the practice learning environments across the organisation for learners undergoing a variety of education programmes.
  • Contribute to a monthly report on Clinical Education and Development activity and matters arising, which will be presented to operational meetings.
  • Be a nominated representative of Clinical Education and Development at a divisional QUAD meeting (or other forum as required), providing updates / reports as required on behalf of all education workstreams.
  • Develop partnerships within the local health economy, providing support, supervision, educational and professional development opportunities for learners.

  • Works collaboratively with clinical professional colleagues and agencies to ensure effective communication in order that professional practice development needs for staff are identified.
  • Manages educational risk and maintains practice education service delivery through effective communication and liaison with Service Managers, staff, and professional colleagues.
  • Engages constructively with clinicians and students to support, develop, and enhance quality standards of clinical practice in the work environment.
  • Provides clinical leadership, development and advice to clinical staff, patients and carers based on current evidence-based knowledge.
  • Maintains up to date clinical skills and knowledge and maintains awareness of professional issues through the appraisal of research and evidence actively seeking out new sources.
  • Demonstrates personal accountability in their everyday practice and an understanding of their responsibility for staff to which they delegate actions.
  • Supports the improvement of patient care and safety by actively promoting, translating, and embedding evidence-based guidance into clinical education and everyday practice.Proactively manages risk to vulnerable persons through the development of activities that support staff to deliver care that is evidence informed, safe and effective.
  • Participates / facilitates meetings in response to the development needs of staff.
  • Works collaboratively with clinical professional colleagues and agencies to ensure effective communication in order that needs of the workforce are identified.
  • Manages risk and maintains service delivery through effective communication and liaison with Service Managers, locality Practice Facilitators and Professional colleagues.
  • Engages constructively with clinicians and students to support, develop and enhance quality standards of clinical practice in the work environment.
  • Provides clinical leadership and advice to clinical staff, patients and carers based on current evidence informed knowledge.
  • Demonstrates the ability to make critical judgements in relation to clinical decision making, including the identification and support of individuals where practice concerns have been raised.
  • Keeps clinical knowledge up to date for own profession and maintains awareness of professional issues across all AHP professions, supporting the AHP Professional Leads through the appraisal of research and evidence actively seeking out new sources.
  • Demonstrate personal accountability in their everyday practice and an understanding of their responsibility for staff to which they delegate actions through education.
  • Supports the improvement of patient care and patient safety by ensuring learners clinical competence is being monitored and reported to necessary assurance groups, escalating issues as required.
  • Line management as required of colleagues within the wider Clinical Education and Development Team.
