Are you passionate about supporting students with additional needs to thrive? We are looking for a proactive and dedicated SEND Officer to play a vital role in guiding students through their journey- from pre-enrolment to a successful college experience.

As a SEND Officer, you will be instrumental in supporting students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and additional needs. You'll act as a key point of contact, ensuring a seamless, supportive transition into college and ongoing success throughout their studies.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • Lead and chair EHCP review meetings, working collaboratively with curriculum teams and local authority partners to set clear, meaningful outcomes for students.
  • Prepare and submit Appendix 2 documentation to support EHCP assessments where required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date EHCP records, ensuring any changes are effectively communicated to all relevant staff.
  • Build strong, proactive relationships with local schools and external partners, attending transition reviews and key meetings to gather essential information on incoming students.
  • Coordinate transition activities, helping students feel confident, supported, and ready to begin their college journey.
  • Ensure effective sharing of student support information across teams and group colleges, promoting continuity and consistency of provision.
  • Meet regularly with both new and existing students to understand their needs and ensure appropriate support is in place and communicated clearly.
  • Promote and uphold safeguarding and behaviour policies, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all learners.
  • Contribute flexibly to wider team priorities, supporting the evolving needs of the college and its students.
