GP Practice Qualified Dispenser

About this role

1. Dispensing & Medicines Management Prepare, dispense and sell prescriptions in accordance with the prescription, legislation and Practice Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Ensure prescriptions are clinically appropriate, accurately labelled and dispensed; escalate concerns to a GP promptly where required. Prepare, assemble and check compliance aids (e.g. Dossetts/blister packs) in line with Practice protocols. Maintain a high level of vigilance with regard to dispensing errors, incidents and near misses, reporting these in line with Practice policy. 2. Prescription Handling & Financial Responsibilities Collect prescription charges and confirm exemption status accurately. Record all transactions and payments on the Titan PMR system and reconcile monies in accordance with Practice procedures. Endorse prescription forms correctly and prepare prescriptions for monthly submission to the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA). 3. Stock Control & Storage Order, receive, check and rotate stock to ensure availability while minimising waste and expired items. Ensure medicines are stored in accordance with manufacturer guidance and statutory requirements. Maintain coldchain integrity, including temperature monitoring and corrective actions where required. Respond promptly to medicines alerts, recalls and safety notices. 4. Hygiene, Health & Safety Maintain a clean, orderly and safe dispensary environment. Ensure all equipment and surfaces are cleaned regularly and maintained in good working order. Comply with Health & Safety policies and promptly report hazards, incidents or nearmisses. 5. Administration & Communication Maintain accurate and contemporaneous dispensing records. Forward invoices, correspondence and documentation to the appropriate manager in a timely manner. Communicate effectively and professionally with patients, clinicians, colleagues and external organisations. 6. Governance, Confidentiality & Professional Conduct Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with GDPR and information governance requirements. Adhere to safeguarding policies and attend mandatory training. Promote equality, diversity and dignity for all patients and colleagues. Act in line with the values and policies of Leith Hill Practice at all times. 7. Team Working & Development Support and mentor trainee staff where appropriate. Participate in appraisal, supervision and ongoing professional development activities. Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to support service delivery during periods of increased workload.
