About this role
Are you passionate about helping young people grow in confidence, wellbeing and learning? We are looking for an English Teacher to join our Milton Keynes team and make a real impact with young people aged 16 to 19 in a non-traditional setting.
Qualifications
· Full teaching qualification (DTTLS, PGCSE, Cert. Ed.) or willing to work towards one.
· Teaching / training or vocational experience in English and relevant up-to-date knowledge.
· Proven track record of managing and supporting a diverse group of learners through vocationally accredited programmes.
· Excellent communication skills for explaining concepts clearly and engaging with students.
· Patience, compassion, and a commitment to assisting students in achieving their goals.
Skills and Expertise
· Knowledge of the current curriculum to deliver English successfully at Functional Skills and GCSE level.
· Respect for learners and an interest in helping them develop both academically and as people.
· Excellent communication skills for working with disaffected learners, learners with disabilities and their parents/carers.
· The ability to adapt to teaching other areas such as Life Skills
· Good listening skills.
· The capacity to learn quickly.
· Strong organisational skills.
· The ability to inspire and enthuse young people.
· Energy, resourcefulness and patience.
· A caring nature and an understanding of the needs and feelings of young people who have had poor life experiences.
· Experience working with young people who haven’t progressed in mainstream education would be advantageous.
· The ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
· A sense of humour and the ability to keep things in perspective.
