About Ball Tree Croft

Ball Tree Croft is a registered residential care home providing person-centred care and

support for up to 15 people over the age of 18 who have a learning disability. It has four

bedrooms where people can have short breaks.

An important part of what we do is enabling and encouraging people to be independent and make choices about their day-to-day lives. From what colour they have on their bedroom wall, to riding a bike, going to work, or future planning within the service (their home), we always ensure people are supported to explore opportunities. For example, we now have People Ambassadors who represent the voice of the people using our service.

Key Skills

(These will be used as the shortlisting criteria)

  • You are able to interpret information, such as service complaints, and redirect them to the appropriate person to provide quick and accurate resolution.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • You will show the ability to deal appropriately with expressive behaviour from the people we support, and respond sensitively to their families and carers.
  • Confident in building relationships with people from a wide variety of cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team completing shared tasks as required.

Qualifications and/ experience

  • Basic literacy and numeracy skills, in order to record and document activities in the provider plans.
  • Basic understanding of the needs of the people we support and their rights as an individual.
  • Demonstrable successful experience of working as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety practice, First Aid and Fire procedure, Manual Handling - Desirable
  • NVQ 2/Diploma in Care or equivalent qualification - Desirable
  • Previous experience of working in a care setting and with people who have a disability or are vulnerable - Desirable
  • Previous experience of running group activities - Desirable
