The Advanced Senior Pharmacy Support Worker (Quality Control) plays a key role in delivering safe, efficient, and high‑quality pharmacy services within the Quality Control section. This role ensures that environmental monitoring, stock management, and quality‑related processes run smoothly, supporting the wider pharmacy team to maintain exceptional standards of patient care.

You will lead and develop a team of pharmacy support workers, providing day‑to‑day supervision, training, and mentorship to ensure staff are confident, competent, and working effectively. By managing workflow, maintaining stock continuity, and contributing to service improvements, you will help drive the department’s commitment to accuracy, safety, and continuous improvement.

Working closely with the Quality Control senior management team, you will report directly to senior QC leadership while collaborating with colleagues across pharmacy and the wider Trust. Your work will directly support the Trust’s values—Patients First, Working Together, and Always Improving—by ensuring that high‑quality processes underpin every stage of patient care.

Responsibilities

Lead, supervise and support a team of pharmacy support workers, ensuring workloads are planned, prioritised and delivered efficiently.

Manage stock control for environmental monitoring media and consumables, ensuring accurate ordering, availability and timely resolution of stock issues.

Deliver training, induction and competency assessment for staff within the Quality Control section and wider pharmacy team.

Contribute to the development, review and implementation of standard operating procedures and service improvement initiatives within the Quality Control service.

What experience and skills are needed

Strong attention to detail, logical thinking and the ability to work accurately under pressure.

Significant experience working within pharmacy, alongside proven supervisory experience.

Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, and confidence using digital systems for data entry and stock management.

Relevant scientific qualifications or equivalent experience gained through pharmacy training and practice.
