Role Overview

The role involves the fabrication and welding of high-quality steel frames and lifting mechanisms for medical furniture. Because the products are bespoke (custom-made for specific patients), the work is varied and requires a high degree of accuracy.

​Key Responsibilities

Precision Welding

Primarily MIG welding on mild steel. Some TIG welding may be required for stainless steel components or finer finishes.

Bespoke Fabrication

Working from engineering drawings to create one-off or small-batch components.

Mechanical Assembly

Assisting in the assembly of the mechanical parts of the beds, including motor mounts and scissor-lift frames.

Workshop Machinery

Proficient use of manual tools including grinders, pillar drills, horizontal band saws, and hand tools.

Quality Standards

Ensuring all welds are neat and structurally sound, as these products are subject to strict medical safety regulations.

​Required Skills & Experience

Technical Literacy

Ability to read and interpret 2D engineering drawings and cutting lists.

Experience

Usually requires 2–5 years of experience in a fabrication environment.
