Learning Support Assistant

About this role

St Alban’s Catholic Primary School is seeking a committed, caring, and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join our welcoming and dedicated team from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs within a nurturing and inclusive Catholic school community. Working closely with class teachers and the SENCo, you will provide high-quality 1:1 classroom support, helping to ensure every child can access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential.

Term Time Only, permanent

Contracted Hours

Monday to Friday 8.30am to 3.30pm, total of 32.5 hours, 39 weeks per year

Salary Scale

PS3 £24,330 FTE, actual/pro rata salary £18,897.39 pa (subject to support staff pay review)

The successful candidate will

have experience of supporting pupils with SEN and utilising strategies to manage behaviours and meet needs, including supporting speech and language

have awareness of Child Safeguarding and the latest SEN policies to implement effective provision, including working with outside agencies to deliver EHCP provisionsbe compassionate and dedicated to provide one-on-one support to a student with EHCPs have the ability to work as part of the team as well as through their initiative

make a notable impact on the quality of learning in a lesson

be flexible, adaptable, patient and be a good team player

possess good literacy and numeracy skills

maintain confidentiality inside and outside of the school
