About this role
This post offers an exciting opportunity to work within the award winning AIR service (Adult Integrated Respiratory Service), which includes a Royal College of Physicians Accredited Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service. The AIR team supports patients with respiratory disease across East Berkshire. Ongoing support will be provided by the wider Respiratory MDT and three Band 7 Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapists.
The aims of the service are to promote respiratory patient independence and improved self-management. This will include support, education and often facilitation of behaviour change through therapy.
The role is a diverse and exiting one - covering Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Oxygen reviews, Chest clearance, Breathing pattern assessment, Breathlessness management and exercise advise for a variety of lung diseases.
The AIR team's base is King Edward VII Hospital and the applicant will be expected to travel across East Berkshire to review patients in clinic settings, community venues and patients own homes.
The service is working towards a seven-day service and weekend working may be required.
A Band 5 applicant with a keen interest in respiratory would also be considered for this role. In house respiratory training would be provided as needed. Please get in contact if you have any further questions
The post holder must have their own car / have access to a car for working hours and UK driving licence, this is essential.
A Respiratory Physiotherapist is a skilled physiotherapist who uses clinical communication and interpersonal skills to identify the needs of people with chronic respiratory conditions and oxygen users and give care that recognises social, cultural and spiritual differences within their lifestyle. The physiotherapist has clinical knowledge in this specialist field and works independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. This role requires travel across Berkshire East to clinics, pulmonary rehabilitation classes and patients’ homes.
To work within and be an integral part of the physiotherapy team working across a wider multi-disciplinary team. The post holder will be responsible for providing patient centred care in an efficient, holistic and cost effective way.
The job will require working in other designated locations of the Trust as well as the primary base.
The Physiotherapist may need to work flexible hours (including unsocial hours) and be able to travel between sites within the Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust when necessary. There may be a requirement for weekend work on rotation.
