About the role
A young man is looking for a personal assistant to support him to live an independent life on a day-to-day basis and to build his confidence to access the community.
Key responsibilities
As a personal assistant you will be required to provide support to this young man in a range of areas including but not limited to:
- Accessing the community to places such as Bluewater or the local town
- Completing food shopping.
- Partaking in social activities
About you
This young man has spent a long time at home and has very limited social interaction with peers of a similar age. He therefore requires someone who is patient and willing to work with him at his own pace to gradually enjoy time out of the house, and to build his confidence to try new activities and expand his social circle.
He is looking for someone that he can see as more of a friend when out in the community, rather than a formal carer relationship. It is important that you are able to build a strong relationship with him and enjoy similar interests, such as cartoons on TV.
Essential requirements
- Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle during support
- Experience with working with people with cerebral palsy, learning difficulties and epilepsy
Shift Pattern
8 hours per week split across 2 or 3 days. The client is flexible with days and times of when the support hours are used and is willing to work with the availability of the PA in order to find the right person for him.
This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check (cost covered by employer) and references.
The client can only accept applications if you have the right to work in the UK. Please do not apply if you require sponsorships or visa.
