As a Full-time SEN 1
1 Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the educational and personal development of students with special educational needs (SEN). Working closely with teachers, you will provide individualised attention and assistance to ensure each student's unique learning needs are met.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to
- Providing one-to-one support to SEN students, tailoring your approach to their specific needs and learning styles.
- Collaborating with teachers to develop and implement effective teaching strategies, lesson plans, and learning activities.
- Monitoring student progress, maintaining detailed records, and regularly communicating with teachers and parents/carers.
- Assisting with the preparation and organisation of learning materials, resources, and the classroom environment.
- Promoting the inclusion and participation of SEN students in all aspects of school life, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
- Offering emotional and social support to SEN students, helping them develop important life skills and build confidence.
- Attending regular training sessions and professional development opportunities to stay up-to-date with the latest SEN teaching practices and strategies.
- Adhering to all school policies, procedures, and safeguarding protocols to ensure the safety and wellbeing of students.
To be successful in this role, you will need
- A recognised teaching assistant qualification or equivalent experience in working with SEN students.
- A genuine passion for supporting the educational and personal growth of children with special needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, teachers, and parents/carers.
- Patience, empathy, and a deep understanding of the unique challenges and needs of SEN students.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, contributing to the overall success of the school.
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritise effectively.
- A commitment to ongoing professional development and a willingness to learn and adapt to new teaching techniques and strategies.
