Overview

A warm, busy and organised family based in Cobham, Surrey, is seeking an experienced Live-in Housekeeper / House Manager to support the smooth running of a substantial private family residence.

This is a well-supported household with an existing cleaner, gardener and nanny; therefore, the role is not focused on deep cleaning or primary childcare. Instead, the family is looking for a highly organised, proactive and capable person who can confidently oversee the day-to-day operational running of the home while maintaining excellent household standards.

The successful candidate will help ensure the household runs smoothly and efficiently at all times, taking responsibility for household organisation, wardrobe management, cooking, household supplies, contractor coordination and practical family support.

A key part of the role will involve liaising with contractors, coordinating appointments and helping oversee practical household projects and maintenance matters as they arise. The family is looking for someone who notices what needs doing, thinks ahead naturally and takes pride in keeping a busy household running well.

The role also includes monitoring school communications and parent WhatsApp groups, helping keep track of reminders, forms, uniforms, deliveries and general household organisation.

A genuine love of dogs is essential, as the family’s Shih Tzu is a very important part of the household and daily family life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining excellent household organisation and presentation
  • Daily tidying and hands-on housekeeping to maintain high standards throughout the home
  • Wardrobe management, laundry and high-quality ironing

  • Managing household supplies and ensuring the home remains well stocked and organised
  • Online shopping, returns and household errands
  • Monitoring household maintenance issues and coordinating practical solutions
  • Liaising with contractors and overseeing household appointments and projects
  • Monitoring school communications and parent WhatsApp groups
  • Keeping track of school reminders, forms, uniforms and practical family administration
  • Providing reliable practical support within a busy family home
  • Helping care for the family dog

Requirements

  • Previous experience working within a private household in a similar role
  • Strong housekeeping and laundry skills with excellent ironing ability
  • Highly organised and naturally proactive
  • Comfortable overseeing the practical running of a busy household
  • Confident liaising with contractors and coordinating household logistics
  • Good cooking ability and happy preparing family meals
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Calm, capable and solutions-focused personality
