Locum Specialty Doctor in LD/Forensic Unit | Kent and Medway Mental Health NHS Trust

About this role

The Trust is seeking to recruit a Specialty Doctor in Forensic Psychiatry to join the low secure Forensic Psychiatry Learning Disability service in Dartford. The post is based at Tarentfort Centre, Littlebrook hospital, Dartford.

The post holder will have a caseload of 20 patients spread across River Hill and Marle wards. There is 1.6WTE consultants covering the wards and the post holder would be expected to work closely with them. There is a full complement of the multidisciplinary team including ward psychologist, social worker and occupational therapist.

  • Day-to-day management of inpatients on the ward, attending to both physical and mental health problems.
  • Preparation of CPA reports, physical health summary reports and, if appropriate, contribute to Mental Health Review Tribunals, manager’s hearings leave applications to the Ministry of Justice for restricted patients.
  • Ensure that individuals who require continued specialist intervention to address risks from mental health conditions are offered a safe effective and timely pathway through secure hospital services into the community.
