About this role
Do you enjoy supporting young people and helping them overcome challenges?
Or perhaps you already work with children or teenagers and are looking to take the next step into a more rewarding, relationship-focused role?
We're working with a number of specialist schools across Winchester and the surrounding areas, and we're looking for compassionate, resilient individuals to join as Learning Mentors on both flexible and long-term assignments.
No previous school experience? That's absolutely fine.
You don't need to have worked as a Learning Mentor before. What matters most is your ability to build trust, stay calm under pressure, and support young people who may need additional emotional or behavioural guidance.
We'll provide training, ongoing support, and the opportunity to gain school experience before stepping fully into the role.
As a Learning Mentor, you'll play a key role in helping students feel supported, understood, and able to engage in learning.
Your responsibilities may include
- Supporting students with additional emotional or behavioural needs (often SEMH)
- Helping young people manage emotions and overcome daily challenges
- Building positive, consistent relationships with students
- Working closely with teachers, SEN staff, and pastoral teams
- Providing encouragement, structure, and reassurance throughout the school day
Every day is different, but the impact you make can be huge.
Why choose a Learning Mentor role?
This is a role built around relationships, trust, and support.
You'll often be the person helping a student regain confidence, re-engage with learning, or navigate difficult moments in their day.
It's a rewarding opportunity to gain hands-on experience in
- Behaviour support
- Emotional wellbeing
- Pastoral care
- Special Educational Needs (SEN)
It can also open doors into careers in teaching, educational psychology, youth work, counselling, or pastoral support.
Who this role would suit
We'd especially love to hear from people with experience supporting young people in any capacity, including
- Sports coaches
- Psychology graduates
- Youth workers
- Support workers
- Individuals from care or mentoring backgrounds
If you're patient, approachable, emotionally resilient, and able to build rapport, you could be a great fit for this role.
What we offer
- Flexible and long-term Learning Mentor opportunities
- Weekly pay from £90-£100 per day (PAYE)
- Free training and CPD, including behaviour support and safeguarding
- Opportunities to gain school experience before committing
- Ongoing support from a people-first, supportive team
