About this role
Applications are invited for Research Fellow position within the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton. The work will involve the development of numerical simulations of high voltage cable systems, with the results written up as project deliverables and publications. These findings will directly contribute to the safe operation of the National Supergrid, contributing to the low carbon future of the UK.
The successful candidate will have, or be near to completion of, a PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with a proven track record of publishing research findings. The candidate must be motivated, and able to work independently using their initiative, but also communicate well within a team. You must be able to organize time, tasks and responsibilities with other team members.
Experience with numerical methods, either analytically or by using software (e.g. COMSOL, MAGNET, Ansys) is advantageous, but not essential.
