Food Technology Technician

About this role

Main Duties and Responsibilities

​To assist in the preparation of Food Technology classes.​​

To assist teaching staff with specific teaching tasks as appropriate​​

To support students in lessons, as directed by the department teachers ​​

To prepare resources as directed by the department teachers ​​

Ensure that stock levels are maintained, ordering resources as directed ​​

To ensure resources are used to create and maintain an effective, safe learning environment​​

To keep sinks and work tops clean; maintain aprons in a serviceable condition; keep stock rooms and tool rooms clean, tidy and in good order​​

Ensure that ingredients are sourced for lessons as appropriate and within policy guidelines. ​​

Ensure that all equipment is accounted for and stored appropriately at all times.​​

Assist in ensuring that food hygiene regulations are maintained and that the school’s Health and Safety policy is followed at all times.​​

Ensure that equipment used by the students is clean and visually inspected on an ongoing basis, reporting any maintenance issues to the premises team. ​​

To liaise with the Teacher of Food technology and Head of Technology and carry out work within the Technology Department ​​

To operate all computer based and manual administrative and clerical systems within the school in a secure manner. ​​

To keep up to date, so far as necessary, for the efficient executing of the job, with new legislation, procedures and techniques. ​​

To undertake relevant training associated with the role as and when required. ​​

To carry out any other duties within the overall function commensurate with the grading and level of responsibility of the job, as directed. ​​

Implement Health and Safety and COSHH regulations

General Support

Report student and Academy issues in line with the Academy’s policies for health and safety, child protection, behaviour management etc. ​

Attend meetings and training sessions as required ​

Be aware of and act in line with Academy policies and procedures as outlined in the

Staff Handbook ​

Be involved in extracurricular activities, e.g. open days, presentation evenings as

required ​

To handle all confidential correspondence and matters with discretion at all times ​

​Performance Management ​​

Participating in the Academy’s arrangements for performance management, professional development and the Academy’s arrangements for quality assurance and internal verification ​​

Attend relevant CPD opportunities ​​
