College Protection Officer

About this role

Brighton College is seeking to appoint College Protection Officers to join our College Protection team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Main Purpose of the Role

To be one of the first points of contact for visitors, staff and pupils visiting Brighton College, as well as on-site residents, on call officers and the nursing team. For this role excellent communication skills, whilst being able to manage situations in a calm manner, are essential. While it is desirable for candidates to already hold an SIA Door Supervisor licence, it is not essential. Those without the qualification will complete the course as part of their mandatory

training.

General Duties and Responsibilities

Provide five-star customer service at all times.

Provide clear, concise and accurate information to all visitors, governors, staff and pupils in a professional manner.

Ensure all interactions are handled with courtesy and respect, even in challenging situations.

Provide Security/Concierge Front of House presence on College properties.

To be proactive regarding the security of the College, Prep School, and offsite premises.

To be alert for possible intruders.

Man the Security Lodge when not required elsewhere.

Liaise with organisers of events being held during duty shift. This will include external clients as well as College staff and pupils.

Ensuring the safety and security of pupils, staff and governors on campus.

Ensuring the safety and security of visitors to the College.

Monitoring of traffic and traffic control at specified times.

Basic investigation and report writing.

Unlock and secure exits, entrances and buildings on College premises at designated times.

Random patrol of College grounds and buildings.

Respond to alarms (fire, burglar etc.).

Respond to emergency calls from staff, pupils and the Health Centre.

Attend mandatory training for the SIA Door Supervisor licence (if required) and any re-occuring refresher training.

To respond to any other reasonable management request.

Person Specifications

The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas

Customer service experience (essential).

Genuine interest in working within a school setting.

Excellent communication skills.

Ability to stay calm in demanding situations.

Friendly and approachable manner.

Ability to interact with all types of people with courtesy and tact.

Ability to work as part of a team.

Good IT skills.

Hold a current SIA Door Supervisor qualification (desirable).
