The Role

This an exciting role within Winchester City Council’s housing team.

We are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable and enthusiastic individual to play a key role in our Compliance team delivering servicing as our Fire Safety Manager working in our Housing Landlord Services department.

You will be part of the Building Safety Team where we provide the full end to end service of fire safety, surveying, budgeting, scoping, delivery & assurance. This means we are looking for someone with extensive experience working in housing maintenance and compliance delivery. You will have a strong focus on H&S, performance management, customer service, budget responsibilities and management.

What You'll Need To Succeed

It is essential that you have experience of working in fire safety, specifically in social housing/landlord services. You must have an understanding of the latest building legislation and how this relates to the work we do. Being able to demonstrate your knowledge, understanding, and experience in the above environment is paramount.

The role of

Fire Safety Manager will include

Working with the Building Safety Manager to review fire safety, key repair data and surveys.

Create scopes of work considering other teams within WCC, current legislation and family’s requirements.

Manage delivery of works on site with robust performance management, H&S management, customer communications and delivery assurance.

Supporting the Landlord Service in informing and enabling effective communication with all stakeholders including supporting the development and delivery of resident engagement strategies in relation to planned maintenance.

The need to demonstrate sound problem solving and decision making in day to day working practices and show the highest personal standards of integrity and conduct ensuring all Winchester City Council policies and procedures are always adhered to.

Building and maintaining good relationships with colleagues, customers, contractors, contacts and other stakeholders to ensure our customers safety and our reputation as a social landlord.

Qualification requirements for the role

NEBOSH or SMSTS is desirable.

Should hold or be prepared to undertake appropriate training/qualifications in compliance management.

Continuous professional development and up to date knowledge of building works in a social housing environment with membership to bodies such as CIH, APM, RICS, MIFSM etc.

This role will require you to drive, so a full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle is required.
