About this role
If you're patient, approachable, and enjoy helping others build confidence and overcome challenges, a role as a Learning Mentor could be the perfect fit.
We're currently supporting a number of specialist schools across Fareham and the surrounding areas, who are looking for compassionate and resilient individuals to join them on both flexible and long-term assignments.
No previous school experience is needed.
You don't need to have worked as a Learning Mentor before - what matters most is your ability to connect with young people, understand behaviour, and provide calm, consistent support to students who may be finding school difficult.
We'll provide training, guidance, and practical school experience so you feel confident stepping into the role.
As a Learning Mentor, you'll work closely with students who need additional emotional, behavioural, or pastoral support throughout the school day.
Your responsibilities may include
- Supporting students with SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) needs
- Helping students manage emotions and remain engaged in learning
- Building strong, positive relationships based on trust and consistency
- Working alongside teachers, SEN teams, and pastoral staff
- Providing encouragement, structure, and reassurance throughout the day
This is a highly rewarding role where the relationships you build can make a genuine difference.
Being a Learning Mentor allows you to play an important role in helping young people feel supported, understood, and able to succeed in school.
You'll gain valuable experience in
- Behaviour and emotional support
- Pastoral care
- SEN and SEMH support
- Relationship-building and communication
It's also an excellent stepping stone into careers such as teaching, educational psychology, youth work, counselling, or social care.
We'd particularly like to hear from people with experience supporting children or young people in any setting, including:
- Sports coaches
- Psychology graduates
- Youth workers
- Support workers
- Individuals from care or mentoring backgrounds
If you're calm, empathetic, resilient, and able to build rapport quickly, this role could be a fantastic fit.
- Flexible and long-term Learning Mentor opportunities
- Weekly pay from £90-£100 per day (PAYE)
- Free CPD training including safeguarding and behaviour support
- Opportunities to gain school experience before committing
- Ongoing support from a dedicated and people-focused team
At Quokka Education, safeguarding is central to everything we do.
