About this role
We are seeking a dedicated Horticultural Activity Coordinator to enhance the quality of life for service users in our day service. This role involves designing and implementing engaging gardening and horticultural activities tailored to the needs our service users. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and a compassionate approach, fostering a nurturing environment that promotes physical activity, sensory stimulation, and social interaction through horticultural programmes.
Responsibilities
Plan, organise, and lead a variety of horticultural activities suitable for service users with diverse needs.
Collaborate with staff to integrate horticultural activities into individualised care plans.
Maintain safe and accessible gardening spaces, ensuring all equipment and plants are suitable for service users use.
Encourage service users to participate actively in planting, watering, harvesting, and other gardening tasks that promote physical movement and mental engagement.
Monitor service users responses to activities, adjusting programmes as necessary to optimise engagement and well-being.
Promote the benefits of horticulture as a therapeutic tool for cognitive stimulation and emotional comfort within our day service.
Adhoc duties as and when needed.
Qualifications
Strong communication skills to effectively interact with service users, families, and team members.
Previous caregiving or care settings experience is highly desirable.
Passion for horticulture and creating meaningful activity programmes that improve service users activity programme.
Ability to organise activities independently while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
