Role overview

We are recruiting registered clinicians to join a Functional Assessor team delivering Personal Independence Payment (PIP) assessments in Lewes.

This is a structured, assessment‑based role for healthcare professionals seeking to move away from shift work, frontline pressure, or hands‑on clinical care into a predictable, office‑hours position. The role is non‑clinical, non‑hands‑on, and focused on professional judgement, communication, and report writing.

This is a Monday to Friday role with hybrid working and a comprehensive training programme provided.

Working pattern

Monday to Friday, office hours only

Hybrid working

Typically two days per week onsite (not fully remote)

No nights, weekends, shifts, or on‑call

Full‑time and part‑time roles available

Working pattern and training

Full‑time and part‑time opportunities available

Part‑time options of 3 or 4 days per week

All roles require completion of a 9‑week full‑time training programme

Once qualified, hybrid working applies with attendance at the Lewes centre

The role You will complete structured PIP functional assessments, focusing on how health conditions affect daily living and mobility. Assessments are carried out within clearly defined clinical frameworks, with ongoing audit, feedback, and clinical support.

Assessments are completed via

Telephone

Video consultation

Face‑to‑face (non‑clinical setting)

All appointments are pre‑booked with appropriate time allocated per assessment. You will typically complete 3 to 5 assessments per day, depending on assessment type.

What you will do

Carry out structured functional assessments using clinical judgement

Explore how physical or mental health conditions impact daily living and mobility

Review medical evidence and supporting documentation

Produce clear, objective, evidence‑based written reports

Use secure digital assessment systems

Communicate professionally and empathetically throughout the assessment process

What you will not do

Provide hands‑on clinical care

Prescribe or deliver treatment

Make diagnoses

Make benefit entitlement decisions

Work nights, weekends, or shifts

Eligible professions (essential) Applicants must be registered as one of the following

Nurse – RGN / RMN / RNLD (NMC registration)

Physiotherapist (HCPC registration)

Occupational Therapist (HCPC registration)

Paramedic (HCPC registration)

Pharmacist (GPhC registration)

Essential criteria

Minimum 12 months post‑registration clinical experience

Strong communication and report‑writing skills

Confidence using IT systems and working to structured processes

Applicants must have the Right to Work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available.

Salary and benefits

Salary £45,300–£48,000 (pro rata for part‑time)

Approval bonus plus performance‑related bonus

25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro rata)

4 CPD days per year plus ongoing clinical support
