About this role

The Salaried GP role involves autonomous, high-quality patient care, consultations, managing long-term conditions, diagnostics, prescribing, care plans, within a GP practice setting, handling administrative tasks, referrals, prescriptions, participating in clinical governance, audits, meetings, quality improvement, and contributing to the practice team, adhering to GMC standards, data protection, and potentially undertaking visiting duties, all while focusing on patient needs, safety, and continuous professional development. The following are the core responsibilities of a Salaried GP. Responsibilities - Clinical Patient Consultation

Deliver face-to-face, telephone, and video consultations to manage acute and chronic health conditions for a diverse patient caseload usually 24 patients a day covering your own patient list.

Diagnosis and Treatment

Make autonomous clinical decisions, including physical examinations, arranging investigations (e.g., blood tests, scans), and referring to secondary care or specialists

Prescribing

Issue computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions in line with national and local practice formularies

Home Visits

Conduct visits to patients' homes or care homes as part of the daily rota

Screening and Prevention

Identify disease risk factors and early signs of illness through screening and health education

Emergency Care

Participate in duty doctor/telephone triage Administrative and

Maintain clear, contemporaneous, confidential and accurate patient records using the

Process and action patient and hospital correspondence, with access to a dedicated

Support medical students and contribute to practice development/training

Qualifications and Professional Requirements Essential

Fully qualified GP with General Medical Council GMC registration and inclusion on the NHS

National Performers List Professional Standards

Adherence to GMC Good Medical Practice, confidentiality, and data protection

Professional Indemnity

Valid membership with a recognised medical defence organisation

Checks
