What skills and experience we're looking for

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Classroom Teaching Assistant in KS1. The role will also include some lunchtime supervision.

The main purpose of this post is to provide high‑quality support for pupils’ learning, wellbeing and personal development throughout the school day. The postholder will help children develop independence, confidence and positive relationships, while ensuring their safety, dignity and inclusion at all times. Working as part of a supportive team, they will contribute to a positive learning environment that reflects the values and ethos of the school.

Qualities and skills

  • A genuine passion for working with young children and meeting their individual needs
  • Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to building positive, trusting relationships
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate effectively with staff, parents, and external professionals
  • Ability to follow individual learning and care plans, adapting activities and approaches to suit pupil needs
  • Confidence in carrying out intimate care tasks, ensuring dignity, respect, and adherence to school policies
  • A flexible and proactive attitude, with the ability to work independently and as part of a supportive team
  • Reliability, discretion, and a calm manner, especially when responding to changing needs or unexpected situations.
