Are you an optimistic and highly motivated health and safety professional with a passion for making improvements and dealing with health, safety & welfare concerns? We are seeking an experienced H&S Officer to join our Corporate H&S Team.
The position will support the other members of the team and is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the safety of our patients, staff, contractors and visitors across the Trust workplaces. The successful candidate will act as a specialist central H&S Professional advising on matters across different sites and divisions, so no two days will be the same. You will need to quickly get up to speed on the key hazards healthcare staff face and the risk controls which need to be implemented and monitored.

1) The delivery of a comprehensive staff-related health and safety advisory service to managers and staff across the Trust. Advise senior management teams on the implications of current and emerging health, safety and welfare legislation, including evaluating options, making recommendations and generating action plans to ensure compliance across the organisation.
2) Monitor and investigate staff-related adverse events (accidents and incidents), follow up with advice and support to prevent recurrence, and report to the Health & Safety Executive under RIDDOR as required.
3) Support the health and safety-related teaching and training programmes for staff at all levels across the Trust.
3) Contribute to the implementation of risk reduction strategies to prevent harm, damage or ill health, ensuring the Trust complies with its statutory obligations. This includes the facilitation and review of health and safety-related risk assessments and safe systems of work.
4) When needed, write and contribute to quarterly reports for Divisional and Care Group/Departmental Governance Groups, local H&S groups, the Corporate Health & Safety Committee and Trust Executive Committees.
5) Deputise for the Health & Safety Adviser, and others in the H&S Team, as required.
