We are now seeking a Mess Managerto join our team at RAF Odiham RG29 1QT

What you’ll do

  • Maintain excellent client and customer relationships through regular communication and service reviews.
  • Support continuous professional development and attend required training, meetings, and performance reviews.
  • Act as Duty Manager, providing holiday and weekend cover when required.
  • Ensure high standards across catering, retail, and service operations in line with KPIs and service agreements.
  • Drive continuous improvement, promotional activity, and business growth opportunities.
  • Monitor budgets, commercial performance, and contribute to achieving site objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, food safety, security, and operational procedures.
  • Respond effectively to incidents, complaints, and operational issues, escalating where necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with department managers to coordinate site-wide operations and service delivery.
  • Promote employee engagement, maintain professional standards, and support a positive team culture.

What you bring

Essential

  • Experience working in a management role within the Soft FM service industry.
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills, including recruitment, training, performance management, and employee relations.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and numerical skills.
  • Good knowledge of health & safety and food safety regulations.
  • Ability to make independent decisions and work proactively within a team environment.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to maintaining high standards.
  • Ability to analyse problems, identify opportunities, and implement effective solutions.

Desirable

  • Experience working within a military environment.
  • Previous experience managing in a similar operational role.
  • Health & Safety qualification such as IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Knowledge of Soft FM services including catering, hospitality, retail, and cleaning operations.
  • Proven experience managing client relationships within a contract environment.
  • Demonstrated success leading, managing, and developing teams.
