Role Accountabilities Clinical Assessment & Early Clinical Decision Support Apply developed clinical judgement to assess patients presenting with undifferentiated or same day concerns within defined competence. Contribute meaningfully to clinical decision making by identifying relevant symptoms, recognising red flags, and determining appropriate escalation or management pathways. Support safe prioritisation of patients, helping clinicians manage demand effectively. Delivery of Safe Care Within Defined Clinical Boundaries Provide safe and structured care for a range of minor illness and/or minor injury presentations, working within established guidelines and urgent care protocols. Use clinical understanding to guide appropriate next steps, ensuring care aligns with best practice and organisational governance. Work with a level of independence appropriate to experience, while recognising limitations and seeking senior input when required. Contribution to Patient Flow & Operational Efficiency Enhance capacity in urgent care sessions by managing appropriate patients directly and supporting clinicians with timely information, assessment findings, and escalation. Contribute to an efficient, well organised clinical environment that supports rapid access and responsive care. Engage proactively in service processes that reduce delay, improve throughput, and maintain safe patient flow. Communication, Patient Engagement & Experience Communicate sensitively with patients to support understanding of symptoms, care options, and next steps. Provide consistent, clear advice in line with clinical guidance and safety netting principles. Contribute to a reassuring and supportive experience for patients seeking urgent or same day care. Clinical Governance, Documentation & Risk Management Maintain accurate, timely, and high quality clinical documentation to support continuity of care and clinical safety. Apply an understanding of risk, safeguarding, red flags, and clinical deterioration to ensure timely escalation. Contribute to quality improvement, clinical audit, and governance processes as part of safe practice. Team Collaboration & Multidisciplinary Working Work closely with GPs, nurses, ANPs/ACPs, paramedics, and other community practitioners to ensure coordinated, integrated care. Share clinical insights appropriately to support safe handover and collaborative decision making. Contribute to a positive, supportive team culture within fast paced urgent care settings. Professional Development & Supporting Others Continue building clinical expertise through training, supervision, and reflective practice. Support junior or developing practitioners by sharing knowledge and demonstrating good clinical and professional behaviours. Contribute to continuous service improvement through feedback, insight, and participation in development initiatives.
