Please refer to the full job description & person specification The Band 3 Ophthalmic Technician plays a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality eye care services by performing routine diagnostic tests and assisting clinical staff within ophthalmology clinics. The post holder carries out a range of ophthalmic investigations, prepares patients for examinations, and ensures a safe, compassionate, and patient-centred approach to care. This role requires effective communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team to support positive patient outcomes. Patient Preparation and Support Greet, identify, confirm patient identification checks and prepare patients for clinical examinations or procedures. Explain tests and procedures clearly to patients, ensuring informed consent and reducing anxiety. Assist with mobility, positioning, and comfort of patients during diagnostic procedures. Diagnostic Testing Perform a wide range of ophthalmic diagnostic tests and imaging such as o Visual acuity testing o Intraocular pressure measurement o Visual field testing o Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) o Fundus photography Accurately document and upload results to electronic patient records. -Clinical Support Support the wider multi professional team during procedures (e.g. minor ops, intravitreal injections). Prepare and maintain clinical rooms and equipment according to infection control standards. Administer eye drops (e.g. dilating or anaesthetic drops) in line with local policy after training and competency assessment Please refer to the full job description & person specification
