About the Role
As Grounds Maintenance Operative you’ll be part of a friendly team making a visible difference in the local community, helping to keep our parks and open spaces welcoming and well‑maintained for all to enjoy.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll work outdoors in all weather conditions, carrying out a range of grounds maintenance tasks such as
Mowing, strimming and hedge cutting
Weeding, pruning and planting
Litter picking and emptying bins
Tidying shrub beds and planters
Sweeping and cleaning hard surfaces
Supporting basic checks on sports and leisure areas
You’ll also use a variety of tools and equipment (training provided) and help keep our parks and open spaces safe by reporting issues and dealing with hazards where appropriate.
Training & Development

We have full time opportunities available, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday, on a permanent contract.
About You
You’ll enjoy practical, hands‑on work and take pride in helping to keep our parks and open spaces looking their best. This is an active, outdoor role that involves working throughout the year in all weather conditions.
You will be able to carry out a range of grounds maintenance tasks, including mowing, strimming, weeding, litter collection, pruning, planting, disease control and weed spraying. Experience in general grounds maintenance is desirable, and training will be provided.
Good communication skills are important, as you will be representing the Council when working in public areas. You should be polite, approachable and professional when engaging with residents, visitors and colleagues.
A full, valid UK driving licence is essential for roles at Grade 4.
