Finance Manager

About this role

Fabrica is seeking a proactive and highly organised Finance Manager to join our small friendly team in central Brighton. This is a key role within a creative, community-focused arts charity, combining hands-on financial management with strategic support for the Director and Trustees.

Based in our Grade II* listed building in Brighton’s Lanes, Fabrica is a contemporary arts space delivering exhibitions, events, workshops, performances and community programmes, alongside a busy venue hire operation.

The Finance Manager will be responsible for day-to-day financial management, including management accounts, budgets, cashflow forecasting, payroll, VAT returns, year-end processes and liaison with auditors. You will support financial planning, reporting and governance, ensuring compliance with the Charity Commission, Companies House and HMRC.

You will also support funding applications and reporting, and oversee financial monitoring for Fabrica and its trading subsidiary. Working closely with the Administrator, you will ensure accurate bookkeeping and financial records covering income, expenditure, banking and petty cash, as well as helping to develop and improve financial systems, policies and procedures.

This is a varied role requiring strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues. Experience in charity finance, including VAT and trading subsidiaries, is highly desirable.

We are looking for someone confident working both operationally and strategically, who can help ensure the financial sustainability of a respected arts organisation and community space.
