Join our dedicated Mortuary and Postmortem team and play a vital role in delivering a dignified, compassionate and high‑quality service.
Based at Wexham Park Hospital, you will support the Senior and Chief Anatomical Technicians in the efficient running of the Postmortem Room and Mortuary, ensuring full compliance withHuman Tissue Authoritystandards across body storage, scheduled purposes and governance.
You’ll experienceinteresting and varied cases daily, including coronial and forensic work, contributing to delicate, respectful and meaningful preparation of the deceased.
Your care helps create heartfelt moments for families and supports the integrity of investigations.

- Assist in the effective day-to-day operation of the Mortuary Service in line with Trust policies, Pathology SOPs, and the requirements of the Human Tissue Act.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams both within and outside the Trust to ensure high standards of patient care and professional practice.
- Maintain strict procedures for patient identification and ensure mortuary storage facilities are checked daily for safe, hygienic, and secure body storage until authorised release.
- Apply specialist Anatomical Pathology Technician knowledge in the preparation, evisceration, and support of post-mortem examinations, contributing to the delivery of high-quality mortuary and pathology services under the guidance of Senior/Chief Technicians.
- Ensure the correct collection, labelling, handling, storage, and transportation of post-mortem specimens in accordance with legal and clinical standards.
- Participate in the on-call rota and respond professionally to urgent mortuary service requirements.
