About this role
The Medical Equipment Library (MEL) Supervisor will lead, direct and manage the medical equipment library service across the organisation.
The post holder will work with trust staff and linked providers and be responsible for all aspects of the medical equipment library service, ensuring the delivery of services in line with clinical requirements whilst achieving high-quality and positive outcomes for service users.
The MEL Supervisor is responsible for delivering a Trust-wide service to all Divisions. The team’s main roles are to
- Day-to-day management of the Medical Equipment Library (MEL) and supervision of the MEL team. To ensure a safe and effective standard of MEL service is provided. Lead specifically in the day-to-day running of the MEL with an emphasis on the review and improvement of MEL processes and practices and the development of MEL staff.
- Provide assistance and guidance to nursing and other staff in the use of medical devices
- Confirm the information content and integrity of the equipment infrastructure.
- Provide web-based access to services such as equipment requests, equipment search facility, policies and procedures
- Participate in the procurement of the medical equipping programme
- General administrative support for the Clinical Technical Services
- To operate Trust Governance systems relating to Medical Devices and the Department
- Departmental ordering, accounting & data entry systems
The post holder is responsible for the performance and quality of the above services.
The post holder will take direct responsibility for all MEL aspects of the service using specialist knowledge to develop services in line with departmental objectives.
