Amey is recruiting a Cleaner Team Leader to support Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) at Harwell. This is a long‑term, secure role offering consistent hours, a 9‑day fortnight and the opportunity to lead a small on‑site cleaning team in a high‑security, safety‑critical environment.

This is a working Team Leader role. You won’t be office‑based — you’ll lead from the front, carrying out cleaning duties alongside managing, supporting and guiding the team.

About the role

Working at NRS Harwell, you’ll play an important part in maintaining safe, clean and compliant nuclear facilities. The environment is controlled, professional and highly regulated, making attention to detail, safety and standards essential.

You’ll be responsible for the day‑to‑day delivery of cleaning services on site while supporting, motivating and supervising the cleaning team.

Key responsibilities

Carrying out hands‑on cleaning duties alongside the team

Leading and supervising on‑site cleaning staff

Ensuring cleaning standards meet strict nuclear, safety and client requirements

Managing rotas, holidays and sickness to maintain full cover

Completing routine cleaning, safety and quality inspections

Monitoring KPIs, audits and service delivery standards

Acting as point of contact with the client and Facilities Manager

Managing cleaning equipment, materials and consumables

Ensuring Health & Safety procedures are followed at all times

Supporting training, inductions, 1‑to‑1s and team briefings

What you’ll bring

Experience working in a cleaning environment (supervisory experience preferred)

A hands‑on, practical approach — comfortable cleaning as part of the role

Good understanding of Health & Safety

Strong communication and people skills

Ability to work calmly and professionally in a controlled / secure environment

Organised, reliable and able to lead by example

Full UK driving licence

Security & site environment

This role is based within a nuclear restoration site

You must be willing to work in controlled areas

DBS and security clearance required – fully supported by Amey
