About this role
To Work in the Portering Department at Conquest Hospital on a alternating shift pattern.
Monday to Sunday 0800-1600 and 1430-0000 on a alternating shift pattern
Will also be trained to work in the waste department to cover shifts as and when required

A Hospital Porter will
- Have good communication skills.

Movement of patients, escort of patients and visitors.
- Mortuary duties• Bodies to be transported to the mortuary as require
- In the absence of the mortuary assistant to:• Arrange access to the mortuary for appropriate persons as directed.
- It may be necessary to assist Ambulance crews and/or Contracted Funeral Director during admission.
Deliveries
- To provide a collection and delivery service as required for internal specimens, theatre/x-ray lists.
Equipment, Furniture and Fittings
- Patient related equipment to be clean and in good repair, defects to be reported to the Duty Team Leader.
- Furniture and other equipment to be moved around the hospitals when and where required
Medical Gas
- The delivery of empty/full cylinders as required. This will include manifold rooms and associated piped gas systems.
- To attend to or report any defects with the medical gas supply as required.
Emergency Procedures
- To attend the appropriate ward or department immediately with the appropriate equipment and assistance upon hearing the alarms for:• Cardiac arrest / Lucas Machine
- Major incident, Hazchem and CBRN incidents
- Traumas
- Helicopter landing
- Fire alarm
- Patient Collapse
