The Opportunity

Are you a Quantity Surveyor looking for a role where you can truly influence the bottom line? Stafford Lawrence Limited is pleased to be working with a growing, independent Main Contractor in Sevenoaks to find a commercially astute QS for their Kent-based projects.

This is a "key hire" for a business that has successfully carved out a niche in high-end residential and commercial refurbishments. They need a safe pair of hands to manage the commercial lifecycle of projects from procurement through to final accounts.

Role Requirements for the Quantity Surveyor Kent

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will have full commercial autonomy over your projects. This is a role for someone who enjoys being "at the coalface" of construction, managing costs in real-time rather than just reporting on them months later.

Subcontractor Management

Leading procurement and managing packages with a firm but fair approach.

Commercial Control

Handling valuations, variations, and ensuring robust cash flow management.

Contractual Knowledge

Applying JCT suite experience to protect the company’s interests and margins.

Team Collaboration

Working closely with Site Managers to ensure project delivery aligns with financial targets.

The Person We are looking for a "Commercial Engine"—someone who understands the nuances of working within an SME environment where speed and accuracy are paramount.

Experience

Proven track record as a QS within a UK Main Contractor or specialist subcontractor.

Skillset

Strong negotiation skills and a deep understanding of construction cost management.

Location

Based within a commutable distance of Sevenoaks (perfect for those looking to ditch the London commute).
