Our client, a prominent educational institution in the heart of Horsham, West Sussex, is seeking a talented and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide one-to-one support to students with a range of SEN, including autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties. As a SEN 1

1 Teaching Assistant, you will be a vital member of our client's dedicated team, collaborating closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement customised support strategies. Your responsibilities will include providing individualised assistance with academic tasks, offering emotional and social support, and ensuring a safe and nurturing learning environment for your students.

The successful candidate will possess a genuine passion for working with children, a deep understanding of SEN, and a proven track record of delivering effective one-to-one support. You will be a patient, adaptable, and creative individual, able to tailor your approach to meet the unique needs of each student. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as you will be regularly liaising with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders.

  • Provide one-to-one support and assistance to students with a range of special educational needs, including autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to develop and implement customised support strategies
  • Help students with academic tasks, such as reading, writing, and numeracy, ensuring they are able to access the curriculum
  • Offer emotional and social support to students, helping them to develop important life skills and build positive relationships
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress and communicate regularly with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders
  • Contribute to the creation of a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a Teaching Assistant, preferably in a SEN setting
  • A recognised teaching assistant or learning support qualification (e.g. , NVQ, CACHE, or equivalent)
  • A deep understanding of special educational needs and the ability to tailor your approach to meet the unique needs of each student
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to effectively liaise with parents, teachers, and other professionals
  • Strong organisational and record-keeping skills, with the ability to maintain accurate and detailed student records
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children
