Medical Devices Trainer | East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust

About this role

The overall purpose of the role is to deliver education and training to staff including competency based medical device programmes in line with the Medical Devices Training policy.

To deliver training and education to all clinical staff including Registered Nurses & Midwives, Healthcare Assistants, Allied Healthcare Practitioners and medical students on medical devices within the Trust and specifically oxygen and infusion devices.

Assist with the development and evaluation of training programmes and competencies and the teaching resources including the Medical Devices web pages, in order to maintain high quality, learner focused training in the Trust.

Provide highly specialised advice and support to clinical staff at all levels in matters relating to medical equipment and patient safety.

Provide training and advice for staff at ward level where appropriate including travel or commuting to other sites within ESHT

Develop and maintain links with Community teams, practice educators and Key Trainers to address equipment loans, align training and competency requirements.

Provide specialised advice and support to clinical staff at all levels in matters relating to medical equipment and patient safety

Support the Medical Devices Training Manager and Head of Clinical Engineering in the investigation of clinical incidents relating to medical devices as requested, providing timely and accurate reports as required.

Assist with the risk assessment of new and existing medical devices

Carry out audits in line with Trust policy and in response to clinical/adverse incidents.
