At Serco, we're pleased to be recruiting on behalf of Leisure Solutions Community Trust.
Leisure Solutions Community Trust encourages active, healthy lifestyles across the local community. Providing affordable access to a wide range of sports and leisure facilities in a safe, clean, friendly and welcoming space, their goal is to support healthier and happier lives for everyone. Delivering these services relies on an enthusiastic, customer-focused team, and they're now looking for Trainee Lifeguards to join their team and help make a positive difference every day.
Please apply for this role if you are interested in attending our upcoming Lifeguard course to gain a Lifeguard Qualification. This is taking place over 3 weekends at Leys Leisure centre on June 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th and 20th (9am to 6pm). 100 percent attendance is required. As a Lifeguard you will be an important part of life here at the centre as you ensure that everyone can use the pool in safety and that they have access to everything they need to enjoy their visit. Without you there can’t be any pool activity. But you won’t be working alone. Our leisure centre has a close knit and supportive team, all working towards providing an inclusive leisure hub for the entire community. You will also receive fantastic training and development opportunities and benefits including free leisure access and other various discounts. What you'll need to do the role
You’ll need to have excellent customer service skills as you’ll be interacting heavily with our customers. So, whether you’ve earned that experience in a leisure or another customer facing environment, you’ll be a people person who is happy dealing with people of all ages and backgrounds.
You will be providing customer care to people of all ages, supervising activities, maintaining high standards of cleanliness in the pool area, and ensuring the safe handling and set up of pool equipment. And of course, when needed – you’ll help to save lives.
As a lifeguard you’ll naturally need to be safety conscious, vigilant, and able to deal with pressurised situations.
No previous Lifeguarding experience required, this role is open to anybody who has the desire to be a lifeguard and can meet the minimum requirements in a swim test.
To pass the swim test you must be able to perform the following
- Jump/dive into deep water
- Swim 50 metres in less than 60 seconds (this is usually 2 lengths of the pool)
- Swim 100 metres continuously on front and back in deep water (this is usually 8 lengths of the pool)
- Tread water for 30 seconds
- Surface dive to the floor of the pool (this is usually no deeper than 2.0m)
- Climb out unaided without ladder/steps and where the pool design permits
If you meet the above criteria, please apply today!
Why join us A place you can make an impact: Swimming pools are the beating hearts of our leisure centres and without lifeguards we can’t operate. You ensure that our customers can enjoy their activity in safety and when needed you save lives. A place you can count on: Our lifeguards are integral to the running of our centres, so as well progressing into senior lifeguard positions you can move into other centre management roles in one of our 55 facilities.
