Ward Host/Hostess – Permanent Role
Nuffield Health Oxford Hospital
37.5 hours per week | Approx. £24,980 per year
We’re looking for friendly, reliable people to join our team as Ward Host/Hostess at Nuffield Health Oxford Hospital on a permanent basis. You don’t need previous healthcare experience — just a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a genuine desire to help people.
In this role, you’ll help make patients feel comfortable and cared for by serving meals, keeping things clean and organised, and being a friendly, reassuring presence on the ward.
Where and when you’ll work
Just a 5-minute walk from John Radcliffe Hospital
No on-site parking available
Working on a rota (5 out of 7 days) across 7 days a week
Shift times include
7:00am – 2:30pm
11:00am – 7:00pm
1:00pm – 9:00pm
What you’ll be doing
Preparing and serving meals to patients
Offering tea, coffee and snacks throughout the day
Chatting with patients and helping them feel comfortable and supported
Keeping the ward pantry clean, tidy and well organised
Washing up and helping with day-to-day tasks
Topping up vending machines
Working closely with the kitchen and ward team to keep everything running smoothly
What we’re looking for
A friendly, positive attitude
Good communication skills
Someone who enjoys working as part of a team
Basic literacy and numeracy
Willingness to follow instructions and learn on the job
Nice to have (but not essential)
Food Hygiene Level 2
