The Opportunity

Salary

£16,412 to £16,674 per annum, pro rata for 23 hours per week (£26,403 to £26,824 per annum is the full time equivalent)

Working pattern

Part time - 23 hours per week - flexible on pattern but must work in the office on a Wednesday

Contract type

Fixed term/Secondment to cover parental leave until June 2027

Location

Based at County Hall - Chichester, with hybrid working options.

Want to kick-start your career? We have an opportunity to join us as a Payroll, Pensions and HR Administrator in our dynamic Payroll Team.

You will provide reliable, efficient and effective flexible specialist payroll support across our services. Having an eye for detail with be invaluable in this role.

Key duties for the

Payroll Team role include

  • Setting up new starter details
  • Processing changes to existing contracts
  • Calculating payroll related information
  • Responding to general customer queries
  • Providing customers with standard information and guidance relating to the service
  • Maintaining employee details on the HR/Payroll system
  • Producing standard correspondence according to set procedures and guidelines

What are we looking for?

To thrive in this role, you will need good knowledge of Excel and Word, be confident, flexible, resilient, organised, be able to balance priorities and deadlines and enjoy working as part of a team.

You will be comfortable working on routine payroll processing and related administrative tasks.

You will have experience working in a customer focussed role, with the ability to explain basic payroll information.

You will be dealing with council and school staff on the telephone and will need to demonstrate excellent customer care and communication skills, when responding to potentially sensitive payroll queries from staff.

You will also need to be able to work on your own initiative, organising your work appropriately and responding to changing priorities to meet agreed deadlines.
