An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Risk Control Surveyor to join a well-established insurer supporting commercial underwriting operations across the South East region. This role will focus on delivering high-quality risk surveys, supporting profitable growth strategies, and working closely with underwriting teams, brokers and clients to provide effective risk management solutions.

The successful individual will undertake surveys across a varied portfolio including manufacturing, distribution, leisure and service industries, producing detailed reports and practical risk improvement recommendations. You will also play a key role in supporting technical standards across the wider survey function, assisting with mentoring, training and continuous improvement initiatives where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct commercial risk surveys in line with technical and service standards
  • Produce detailed risk reports and recommendations
  • Support underwriting teams through technical risk assessment and guidance
  • Assist with survey audits, technical coaching and development activities
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of risk management, regulatory and technical developments
  • Build strong working relationships with brokers, clients and internal stakeholders
  • Contribute towards enhancing risk management services and market reputation

Requirements

  • Strong commercial risk surveying experience across a broad range of SME and Mid-market sectors
  • Excellent understanding of fire, liability, business interruption, security and general property risks
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience delivering presentations, coaching or technical training would be advantageous
  • Good organisational and time management ability
  • Full UK driving licence

Qualifications such as ACII, NEBOSH or CMIRM would be highly beneficial, although equivalent experience will also be considered.
