Student Cover Supervisor

About this role

Winchester, Hampshire

Flexible Work | Term Time

Got a bit more availability around university at the moment?

Or looking for something flexible that works around your timetable?

We're currently working with a number of welcoming and well-regarded secondary schools across Winchester and the surrounding Hampshire areas, and we're looking for confident, reliable university students to join us as Student Cover Supervisors.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain valuable experience, build confidence working with young people, and earn alongside your studies - all while keeping flexibility around your university commitments.

No classroom experience? That's absolutely fine.

You don't need previous school experience to get started. If you're confident communicating, able to stay calm under pressure, and comfortable leading a group, we'll support you with the rest.

We provide training, guidance, and opportunities to experience school settings before you begin, helping you feel prepared from day one.

  • Deliver pre-set lesson plans provided by teaching staff
  • Keep students engaged and focused during lessons
  • Manage classroom behaviour in a calm and professional manner
  • Follow school policies, routines, and expectations
  • Provide feedback to teachers following lessons
  • Support students in maintaining a positive learning environment

You can

  • Choose the days you're available
  • Gain hands-on experience working with young people
  • Build confidence, communication, and leadership skills
  • Explore whether teaching or education could be a future career path
  • Work in a rewarding environment while continuing your studies

We'd love to hear from students studying a wide range of subjects, including

  • English
  • Maths
  • Science
  • Humanities (History, Geography, RE)
  • Sports & PE
  • Psychology or related subjects

As well as anyone who

  • Has some weekday availability
  • Is confident speaking in front of groups
  • Is organised, adaptable, and reliable
  • Is looking for flexible and worthwhile work alongside university
  • Flexible work to suit your availability
  • Opportunities in local Winchester secondary schools
  • Competitive pay from £120 per day (PAYE)
  • Free training including safeguarding, SEN awareness, and behaviour management
  • Experience days and school visits before starting
  • Ongoing support from a friendly and experienced team
