Nursery Room Leader

About this role

The Opportunity

As a Room Leader / Senior Practitioner, you will take operational and pedagogical ownership of your designated room. You will have the creative freedom to design a stimulating environment and mentor a small team of practitioners, ensuring the highest standards of the EYFS framework are delivered daily.

Key Responsibilities

Room Leadership

Manage the daily routines, setups, and staff allocations within your room to maintain a seamless, positive learning environment.

EYFS Implementation

Lead the team in planning and executing creative, play-based activities tailored to children's individual developmental needs and milestones.

Staff Mentoring

Support and guide junior practitioners and apprentices through peer observations, coaching, and sharing best practices.

Safeguarding & Compliance

Maintain a safe, hygienic, and secure environment, strictly adhering to Ofsted regulations, safeguarding protocols, and health & safety standards.

Parent Partnerships

Foster excellent, communicative relationships with parents and carers, providing detailed daily handovers and developmental progress updates.

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications

A full and relevant Level 3 Childcare Qualification or higher (NVQ, CACHE, or equivalent) is essential.

Experience

Proven experience as a Senior Nursery Nurse, Senior Practitioner, or Room Leader within a professional, fast-paced UK day nursery.

Knowledge

Robust understanding of the statutory Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, tracking software, and positive behavior management.
