About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established Children’s Centre based within a primary school in Haringey for an Early Learning & Family Practitioner to join their Early Help and Prevention team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work at the heart of a school-based children’s centre, supporting families with young children through high-quality early years provision, targeted interventions, and outreach support.

You will play a key role in delivering stay-and-play sessions, supporting early development, and helping families access vital services within the local community.

Key Responsibilities

Plan, deliver and evaluate early learning sessions (including stay & play, speech and language, and parenting support) in line with the EYFS framework and centre priorities

Support children and families to access services within the children’s centre and wider early help network

Promote uptake of the free entitlement for 2, 3 and 4-year-olds

Observe, assess and track children’s development and progress within group settings

Support parents to understand child development, play and early learning

Work alongside health professionals, including health visitors, to support delivery of the Healthy Child Programme

Identify families needing additional support and ensure appropriate referrals and signposting

Contribute to safeguarding processes and ensure early identification of additional needs, including SEND

Support inclusive practice across all sessions and outreach activity

Work flexibly, including occasional evenings and weekends when required

About You

Essential Requirements

Level 3 qualification in Early Years/Childcare (or equivalent)

Strong understanding of the EYFS and child development (0–5 years)

Minimum 2 years’ experience delivering early years services

Experience working with vulnerable families and diverse communities

Ability to plan and deliver engaging early learning sessions

Strong communication skills with children, parents/carers and professionals

Good knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures

Confident using observation and assessment to support outcomes

IT literate, organised, and able to manage competing priorities

Positive, proactive and solution-focused approach

Desirable

Experience working in a children’s centre or school-based early years setting

Experience of multi-agency working

Understanding of social exclusion and its impact on families

Ability to speak a community language

About the Setting

This role is based within a primary school children’s centre in Haringey, working as part of a wider Early Help team. The centre plays a key role in supporting families locally through early intervention, parenting support, and early education services.
