Job summary

Bhuku Ltd is recruiting a Peer Employment & Employability Tutor to deliver a structured, peer-led employment programme at HMP/YOI Isis.

This role focuses on supporting young adult prisoners (aged 18–25) to develop the skills, confidence and experience needed to progress into employment, education or training on release.

You will deliver a programme that combines practical employability skills with a peer mentoring model, enabling learners to take on roles such as Recruitment Consultants and Employment Mentors.

You will deliver a structured programme that supports learners to

Build confidence, motivation and employability skills

Develop CVs and disclosure letters

Prepare for interviews and professional environments

Identify career goals and pathways

Develop communication, teamwork and leadership skills

Understand employer expectations and workplace behaviours

You will also

Deliver a Level 1 Peer Recruitment qualification (City & Guilds assured)

Train learners to act as peer mentors and employment consultants

Support learners through 1

1 and group sessions

Facilitate mock interviews and employer engagement activities

Support learners to progress into employment or further opportunities

The programme includes a balance of practical workshops and theory-based learning.

Working pattern

Monday to Thursday

08:00 – 16:30

Delivery aligned to prison regime times

9-month fixed-term contract

Person specification

Essential

Experience delivering employability, personal development or training programmes

Strong communication and facilitation skills

Ability to engage young adults with diverse needs

Ability to work within a secure environment and follow procedures

Willingness to complete prison vetting and induction

Desirable

Experience working in a custodial or secure setting

Teaching, training or coaching qualification

Experience supporting young people or NEET learners

Knowledge of recruitment, employment or careers guidance

Skills and experience

You will be

Confident delivering structured group sessions

Able to support learners with low confidence or limited work experience

Skilled in mentoring and coaching individuals

Organised and able to track learner progress and outcomes

Professional and resilient in a secure environment

Additional information

This role is based in a young adult resettlement prison (ages 18–25)

All staff must

Pass security vetting

Complete prison induction and training

Follow all HMPPS policies and procedures
