About the Production Welding Manager Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Production Welding Manager to join a busy and growing sheet metal and fabrication manufacturing environment. This is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing all welding and fabrication activities, ensuring compliance with UKCA requirements, and maintaining the highest quality and safety standards. The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise in MIG and TIG welding, along with proven experience in welding quality management and production coordination.

Production Welding Manager Key Responsibilities

Welding & Production

Coordinate and oversee daily welding operations (MIG & TIG)

Plan and manage workloads to meet customer delivery deadlines

Develop and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)

Ensure compliance with relevant standards (ISO 3834, ISO 14731, EN 1090, EN 15085)

Carry out inspections including first article and in-process checks

Ensure all welding qualifications and certifications are up to date

Maintain calibration records for welding equipment and consumables

Quality & Compliance

Implement and monitor quality control procedures

Ensure full compliance with UKCA and audit requirements

Manage and maintain accurate documentation and quality records

Investigate non-conformances and carry out root cause analysis

Planning & Coordination

Create and manage production schedules using MRP systems

Monitor production capacity and highlight potential bottlenecks

Work closely with internal teams to ensure smooth workflow and delivery

Coordinate with dispatch and other departments to meet deadlines

Performance & Continuous Improvement

Monitor production performance, costs, and efficiency

Prepare reports on progress and team performance

Identify and implement process improvements

Support and manage team performance in line with company procedures

Production Welding Manager Requirements

Essential

Strong experience in MIG and TIG welding

Solid knowledge of fabrication and sheet metal manufacturing

Experience with welding standards (ISO 3834, EN 1090, etc.)

Ability to write and manage Welding Procedure Specifications

Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills

Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Desirable

Previous experience in a Welding Coordinator / supervisory role

Knowledge of MRP systems

Engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent)

Forklift licence

UK driving licence
