About this role

Central London Community Healthcare (CLCH) is seeking a Bank Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapist to work 2 ½ days per week, with flexibility across weekdays.

This role will require a candidate with specialism in Paediatric Dysphagia. This is a band 7 bank role and would also be suitable for an experienced Band 6 Speech & Language Therapist with paediatric dysphagia experience who is looking to progress their specialist skills.

You will provide a highly specialist speech and language therapy service to children with complex needs, working collaboratively with:

  • Speech and language therapy colleagues
  • Parents and carers
  • Education staff
  • Multidisciplinary health professionals

The main clinical duties of this role will require Specialised knowledge of paediatric therapy and management of dysphagia, eating, drinking and complex communication needs difficulties.

You will deliver specialist assessment and management of paediatric dysphagia, eating and drinking difficulties, and complex communication needs. You will apply advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice within paediatrics.

This role requires someone with specialist-level experience in paediatric dysphagia aligned with the Royal College of Speech & Language Therapists Interprofessional Dysphagia Framework.

You will follow highly specialist assessment to use advanced clinical reasoning, analysis, assessment and re assessment skills and using a client-centered goal setting approach, to develop and provide individual Speech & Language Therapy treatments and programmes for children.

As an active member of the clinical team, you will provide a comprehensive Highly Specialist Speech & Language Therapy service. Working within professional standards and clinical guidelines, promote best practice and undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner including assessing and treating own caseload of patients and maintaining professional documentation.

Build and maintain key relationships with referring services (MDTs, primary & secondary care services, voluntary and third sector organisations) to facilitate appropriate referrals and an understanding of the role of the Speech & Language Therapist and the Multi-professional team

You will contribute to training, supervision, and support for speech & language therapists and other professionals.
