About this role

Junior clinical fellows are required to work at FY2/ST1-2 level at the Royal Free Hospital, London, in the Hampstead site. The post allows doctors to rotate through Acute medicine, Elderly care medicine and Emergency medicine.

This is an ideal opportunity to work in a busy but well supported department with a team of highly motivated consultants and trainees.

The successful applicant will gain experience across a wide variety of the common and rarer medical conditions and will have access to the full range of in-house educational opportunities afforded to other trainees. The consultant body is drawn from a variety of core medical specialities.

The successful applicant will be able to participate in the department’s teaching, audit and educational activities, in addition to specific speciality exposure if desired.

The department accepts adult and paediatric patients and is a designated trauma unit. The

post holder will be supervised by senior decision makers 24/7. They will be expected to see

resus patients, majors and minors type patients as well as paediatric patients.

Training in paediatric emergencies is embedded within induction and the teaching

programme.

A team of pediatric consultants manage the senior tier rota with 24/7 presence

in the hospital. Additionally, two Paediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) Consultants oversee

the Paediatric Emergency Department who work alongside ED registrars trained in PEM to

offer training and support to the postholder whilst working in our PEM area. This post offers

the chance to learn about PEM and improve skills in paediatric medicine.

The post holder will participate in the teaching and training of the medical students & elective students during their placements. The department has an appointed a Clinical teaching Fellow to coordinate and enable delivery of educational & training needs for junior doctors working in the department. Candidates will be able to participate in audit and quality improvement under the guidance of a supervisor.
